September 2012

Hi!  I received my order from My Favorite Things recently so I got a chance to make my next page using their current sketch.  This one is for September 2012.

Here's the sketch.

I decided to rotate the sketch to fit the image and my scrapbook/calendar better.  The image is Pure Innocence Morning Glory.  I kept the background really simple.  You could call it laziness, hehe.  But I like the way the image stands out.  I taped some washi tape across the cardstock, pretty simple.  I used my new Prismacolor pencils and tried to blend (burnish?) without using OMS.  I will need more practice.  I used my white pencil to help with the blending since I don't have a colorless blender yet.  Then I drew in some grass for her to stand on.

The other page.

Thanks for reading and have a great week!

August 2012

Hi!  We had a short black out this morning and I didn't know what to do without my computer and internet, and I couldn't go blog surfing.  I was sad but I did cut everything out for my kids' Halloween goody bags.  Good thing my Big Shot isn't electric.

Anyway, I made another page to my 2012 calendar/scrapbook using MFT's sketch #39 and Pure Innocence Year of Flowers series Poppy.

Here's my page.  Somehow I'm not loving this one too much.  I love the image but somehow the colors remind me of fall too much and not too summery.  And I think the proportions are a bit off.  But I decided to just stick with it.  It's still cute.

Here's a picture of both pages.

I'm gonna have to wait til I order the next couple months to continue.  But I'm happy I've made it this far!

The kiddies are home for fall break.  It's nice but messy and noisy.  It may be a long week.

Thanks for reading!

July 2012

Hi!  Yes, I'm totally catching up on my 2012 calendar/scrapbook!  I followed MFT's sketch 38 for the month of July.

This is Pure Innocence Waterlily.  I think she's super cute!  Colored her dress like a rainbow.

The pages together.

This is a super short post!  Hope you're having a great day!

Thanks for reading!

June 2012

Hi!  I am slowly catching up with my 2012 calendar/scrapbook.  Just finished June so I'm half way there.  It is super muggy here and I'm trying to get the fan to aim directly at my back while I write up this post.  Here is the sketch from My Favorite Things.

I've used Pure Innocence Rose.  She is the cutie for the month of June.

Here's the other page too.

Short little post today.  Thanks for reading!

May 2012

Hi!  Okay, so I am now really behind making my 2012 calendar using Pure Innocence Year of Flowers series from MFT.  Really, I am going to get on it.  I just wish it wasn't so hot here.  So muggy now that I need to use a fan but that's not so great when there are paper scraps everywhere.

Here is the sketch from MFT.   Week 36 already!

The left side follows the sketch using Pure Innocence Lily of the Valley stamp. I paper pieced her dress.  I think these flowers are usually white but I made mine light yellow.  The right page is my computer generated calendar with space above for a photo so that I can use this also as a scrapbook once the year is done.  Trying to be practical too.

I already have the June and July stamps so hopefully I can catch up making these pages.  I already precut the pages and punched the holes so I can start once I see the new sketch.

Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!

April 2012

Hi!  So I'm a little behind in making my 2012 calendar scrapbook using the Pure Innocence year of flowers stamps.  I thought I'd better get on it again before it's too late.  Again, I used the weekly sketch from My Favorite Things.  They are already on sketch 27!  I haven't been too good at keeping up with them.

Just the left side follows the sketch.  The right page has my computer generated calendar.  The space above it is reserved for a photo and some journaling.

The stamp is Pure Innocence Crazy for Daisies.  I paper pieced her dress and then had to add her arm as well over her dress.  I always think of daisies as white but when I did a search for them on line, there were so many different varieties and colors so I made the daisies pink of course.

Close up photo.  I used PTI's picket fence die and the daisy on the right is from MFT.  I like how this daisy die cuts and embosses so you can see details on the leaves and the little yellow center.  Too cute!

I'll be entering this in:
My Favorite Things weekly sketch 27
All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge--Anything Goes
Paper Sundaes Challenge #77--Paper Piecing

Thanks for reading and have a great week!

A+ Teachers

Hi!  It's been a while since I got to play in My Favorite Things weekly sketch.  They are now on sketch 20!  I think I missed a few weeks and I'm behind on my 2012 calendar!  Hopefully I'll catch up next month.  Here's this week's sketch.

I made 2 cards following the sketch and the card on the right was from way long ago following a different sketch but I wanted to show all three cards the kids will be giving to their teachers at the end of the school year.  I let them pick which ones they liked the best to give to their teachers.  They're all a little different.

I like this card a lot.  It's looks fun and bright and my daughter picked it for one of her teachers.  The background uses the graph stamp from Hero Arts.  I like these background stamps a lot too.  Then I used Pure Innocence Make the Grade stamp.  All the sentiments including the A+ is from the set.

My son picked this one for his teacher.  I crossed out the word student in the circle and wrote teacher so it would read Teacher's Grade Card.  I like this card a lot too especially the papers.

The third card is going to another one of my daughter's teachers.  I like that one too with the felt doily and ribbon.  Gee, I guess I like all of these cards and hopefully the teachers will too.

I'm still in the process of making something small (and I mean literally small) for my son's kindergarten class.  I have a lot of crafting to do still.  My daughter didn't want to make anything for her class so that lessens the load a bit.  I still have the teachers' gifts to package up.

Thanks for reading and have a great Friday!

Happy Easter

Hi!  Here's the current sketch over at My Favorite Things

I used Pure Innocence One Sweet Chick again.

Here's a closer photo.  Her dress and egg is paper pieced.  I like doing that with these images--gives her a larger wardrobe.  I did go a bit overboard with the liquid pearls.  Sometimes it's hard to make equal sized and even spaced little dots.  But it was fun!  The banner, scalloped button and green grass felt are from PTI.

Off to post this over at Splitcoast Stampers.  Thanks for reading and have a great week!

You Make the Grade

Hi!  My Favorite Things has weekly challenges too!  I've been wanting to play along and finally got a chance with this week's sketch.

Here's my card!  Stamp is Pure Innocence You Make the Grade.  I wanted to find a new stamp for cards for my kids' teachers and thought this was super cute.

I cut the red doily using MFT's Die-namics die out of felt.  I love all this doily stuff!  I used copics to color her board and stamped the sentiment using PTI's fresh snow.  It came out kind of light so I wrote over it with my white gel pen.

My bow--I hardly ever make bows on my cards.  I didn't really on this card either.  I just tied some baker's twine around after I made the loops and added the flower shaped button (Stampin' Up from Sunghee).  So I cheated a little.  Ribbon is from PTI.

All cardstock is PTI and papers are from October Afternoon's Schoolhouse.  I don't know why but I really love all school themed products like stamps and paper.  As a kid and even as a college student I really looked forward to the first day of school because I got to buy new school supplies.  Something about new notebooks and pencils and folders, I really love.  So I have fun when I shop for my kids' school supplies too.

I can't believe the weekend is almost gone already.  Even as a stay at home mom, I look forward to Fridays and dread Mondays.  But not as much as when I was working.  Heehee.  I feel some relief that I can wake up Monday mornings and not worry about heading to work.  I can just concentrate on getting the kids to school.

Thanks for reading and have a great week!

March 2012

Hi!  It's time for My Favorite Things weekly sketch!

I used this sketch for my March 2012 calendar/scrapbook page.  My January 2012 and February 2012 posts are HERE and HERE.  Hopefully I'll make it through the whole year so I can bind them all into a 6 x 6 book.

I used Pure Innocence Daffodil stamp.

Basic Grey papers.

I love these stamps because of the flowers!  So cute!

My computer generated calendar.  I left some space above the calendar for photos or journaling.

Also entering this into Wee Memories Challenge 49 (Anything Goes).

Kind of a short post tonight.  Thanks for reading!

February 2012

Hi!  So above is the new sketch at My Favorite Things.  I used it as my inspiration for my February 2012 calendar/scrapbook page.  My January 2012 page is HERE.

I used Pure Innocence Primrose stamp which is the February one in the year of flowers series.

Paper pieced dress and the flowers are popped up a bit.

PTI banner die and Martha Stewart butterfly punch.  Paper is from Basic Grey.

Calendar is computer generated.  February is from the Primrose set and 2012 from PTI's Calendar Basics set.  The area on top is for a photo and journaling.

Thanks for reading and hope you're having a great weekend!

A Simple Birthday

Hi!  I wanted to make a simple birthday card that took minimal coloring and time.  I followed the current sketch from My Favorite Things

Maybe I followed the sketch a bit loosely but I think I have the major components on there.  I used the cute little girl from Pure Innocence Hello Cupcake.  I wanted to try coloring on kraft cardstock.  It took less time and I kind of like how it's a bit muted.

There's some glaze on the cherry and some stickles too.

This card is for the following challenges:
All That Scraps Weekly Wednesday Challenge (Birthday)
My Favorite Things WSC11
Paper Sundaes Challenge Blog (Keep it Simple)
Simon Says Stamp Challenge Blog (Birthday)

I've been a little obsessed lately with embossing/debossing from PTI's challenge.  I'll hopefully share some of that tomorrow.

Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Believe in Magic

Hi!  Happy Valentine's Day!!

In between all that PTI anniversary fun, I did manage to somehow make something with My Favorite Things sketch above.

I made a little tooth fairy card and box for Cheryl's son.  (Cheryl, try not to look so closely so you can be surprised when you receive it in the mail).  I was looking for a tooth fairy stamp set but couldn't really find any from my favorite stamp companies.  Maybe they should try to make one?  But when I saw this Pure Innocence stamp, I thought she was cute and could be a tooth fairy.

I tried not to pick such girly colors but it's hard to avoid all the cute stuff.

There's a little blue pearl in her wand and some stickles on her wings.  Then I had to stop with all the pretty embellishments or it would be too girly.

I used a tin that used to hold some paper flowers.  It's a pretty good size.

I used Just Rite Stampers to personalize the box a bit.

Then on the inside, I made a felt pillow.  I stitched an X in the middle with yarn because it was too poofy and the lid didn't close well.  The X made the pillow just a bit skinnier and marks a good place to put his tooth.  But my sewing is a bit messy so don't look too closely.  And the tin is big so you could even fit larger bills in it and not just coins.  What's the going rate for a tooth these days?  We gave my daughter $10 for her first tooth.  A bit crazy, I know but it took so long for her first one to come out.  Now she gets $5 a tooth.  Maybe that's a bit much too?

Thanks for reading and have a great week!
