Lucky

Hi!  I spent the weekend crafting like crazy trying to finish up 3 cards for TGF's Customer Challenge and Chit Chat Night on SCS.  The theme was music and the challenges were to create a project inspired by a favorite song, favorite music video, and a favorite lyric.  So because I don't know how to just pick one and because I love these kinds of challenges, I had to do them all.  Hehe.

First up is one of my current favorite songs.  I've only recently heard it on the radio and didn't know who sang it so I did a search of it on You tube.  It's called Lucky and I was so surprised that it was sang by Jason Mraz cause I'm not that big a fan of his other songs.  Lucky is a duet with the female part sang by Colbie Caillat who I've never heard of.  Yeah, I'm so not with it.  My card is based on the video.  See HERE

I used TGF's Dressy Edward digi and Fancy Anya.  I think Edward looks pretty stylish and so does Fancy.

Please tell me you know who this is!  This card is for a favorite video.  Technically it's inspired by Adele's Grammy performance and not really an official video.

I altered TGF's Nurse Anya.  I took away her nurse cap and her tray.  I gave her a scoop neck dress and shiny belt and heels.  And she's holding a broken heart in her hand.

This is a little corner bookmark which was inspired by Fun's We Are Young.  This one is for a favorite lyric.  I had seen a graduating class sing that song and thought it was such a fun song to perform at graduation.  So I took the most inspirational part of the lyrics and added that to the bookmark.  I gave this to my daughter since she just graduated from 5th grade.  I don't think she knows this song.  You can see the video HERE.  The cute image is TGF's Grad Anya.  I also added a fun tassel in my daughter's school colors.

And so now I'm super pooped.  After finishing these up this morning, I had this urge to clean.  Even though I already had 3 loads of laundry to do, I decided to clean the inside of the fridge and the bathroom.  What exactly possessed me to do that, I can't explain.  It's just a strong urge sometimes.

Oh, and Happy Father's Day!  I was able to keep my hubby's card hidden til today.  So I guess he doesn't read my blog!

Thanks for reading!

musical movies

Hi!  Hmmm, this may be a longer than usual post as I think I may have gone a little overboard participating in The Greeting Farm's April Customer Challenge over on SCS.  I think because I had a little crafting mini break that I tried to make up for it by making 3 cards over the weekend.  I'll be sharing all 3 in this post since the deadline for this challenge is Monday.  The challenge is create a card inspired by a Musical Play or a Musical Movie.

For the first card, I followed sketch #47 at The Deconstructed Sketch

When I was a kid, I loved the movie Annie!  I loved the songs and everything.  So this is my version of it.  I used TGF's Stella (body) and Nahla's head.

I'm thinking she looks kind of sad but maybe hopeful too?  I ended up cutting off her little pigtails and wiping away Stella's envelope in her hands.

It's hard to tell but I did sponge on some clouds behind her but the lighting makes it look like a plain piece of white cardstock.

Can you guess this one?  High School Musical!  My kids loved those movies.  I'm sure we'll re-watch these movies when my youngest gets into them.  My older son loved the songs and tried to imitate the dance moves.  Ha!  Still cracks me up when I think about it.  I think he likes singing and so next school year, I'm having him sign up for the school chorus.

So Troy is a mix of TGF's Paul and Dylan.  I wiped away the original number that was on the shirt and put Troy's number instead.  And Gabriella is a mix of Odette and Miko.

The paper is some older school themed stack that I had.  Simple card.  I added some musical note die cuts from My Favorite Things.

The last card I made was inspired by Grease, one of my favorite movies and really, the original High School Musical.  I love the end of the movie and that's what I wanted to portray in the card.

This altering took some doing!  I wasn't sure if I could pull it off but in the end I love how it turned out.  Sandy is a combination of Miss Anya Love (head and shirt), part of the pants from Miss Anya Autumn and the shoes were from another Miss Anya from the Love set.  I used my light box to trace the pants and make the pants longer actually.  Danny is from My Guy Ian.  I just traced in the outline of his shirt using my light box instead of having the original patterned shirt.  I was worried it would look weird but since I had to color them in black anyway, it hid a lot of the mistakes!

I added in the first couple of lines to the song, You're the One That I Want.

I didn't spend the whole weekend making these cards though.  I actually had time to do the usual amount of laundry and then some since I cleaned out my kids' rooms and did some vacuuming too.  Plus I have 2 sick kiddos.  My oldest seems okay but my youngest has a super high fever so I think I'll be heading to the doctor's tomorrow.  He has already peed in his bed twice since being sick so that has added to my laundry load as well.

Thanks for reading!

What do you see?

Hi!  I decided to make another little project for TGF's SCS Chit Chat Night.  You can view the challenge details HERE.  My inspiration is another children's book, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Bill Martin, Jr. and Eric Carle.  It was one of my favorites to use for speech therapy.  The kids loved it and it was so easy to take the same concepts and expand on it so parents could help their kids too.  I remember I had a whole bunch of these animals printed out and laminated for the kids to play with.  Now, my youngest really loves this book too.  He likes the whole series of them.

So I decided to make a little board book.  It's been a while since I made a little book like this.  I tried to keep it relatively simple.

This is the cover.  I used TGF's Oh Boy Ian since I knew my son would want it after I was done making it.  The cover measures 3x3 inches.  The title was made with rub on letters.

My brown bear is from TGF's Oh Baby set.  I printed all the pages out.  The images are all just stamped onto the page and colored with Copics.

I changed some of the animals but the colors are the same.  This little piggy is from McSplendid Farm.

The duck is from Build a Onesie (girl) clear stamp set.

I like this blue horse the best!  Also from McSplendid Farm.

Not loving the froggy's coloring too much.  Some how my greens got a bit mixed up.  He is from Down By the Pond.

The purple cat is from Ginger Bell stamp set.

The white hen is also from McSplendid Farm.

Do cows have horns?  Is this a bull?  Oh well.  I'm calling it a cow and I was running out of ink in my grays so had to use my black pencil to kind of fill in the rest.  S/he is also from McSplendid Farm.

The goldfish is from Down By the Pond.

My last page is of Teacher Anya.

I also rounded the corners of the book.  I used tape to attach my pages instead of glue like I've done before.  My kids loved it and of course my youngest claimed it as his.  And I like how cute it turned out especially since it's small for a child to hold.

Knuffle Bunny

Hi!  The Greeting Farm had their Customer Challenge & Chit Chat Night "A Night at the Bookstore" and introduced a few challenges.  I have to say chatting was too fast for me and I couldn't really keep up.  It was still early here, and I had to pick up the kids from school and activities and make dinner and eat and so I guess the timing didn't really work out with our schedule. You can check out the challenge details on the SCS forum HERE.  I made this card for Favorite Child's Book category.  It is based on the Mo Willems book Knuffle Bunny.  It's one of my kids' favorites and it's such a cute story.  We actually love reading Mo Willems' books especially his Elephant and Piggie series.  Those books are hilarious!  This challenge also made me realize that I haven't read many books recently except kids' books.  I used to love reading but just haven't given it much time lately.  Anyway, here is my card.

If you've read the story, you know Knuffle Bunny gets left behind in the washer at a local laundromat.  So that's what I made.  A washing machine and a TGF version of Knuffle Bunny.  I used one of the bunnies from TGF's Lucky Bunnies (rubber version).

So I stamped the bunny and wiped off his face and drew in features similar to Knuffle Bunny.  I also added some clothes from TGF's Wardrobe set and flower soft for soap for this shaker card.  The word bubble die cut is from MFT.

I think that is it.  Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!
